I know I've mentioned this throughout the past week and yet there's more to this story. I just ask that you all please read what may be a lengthier blog entry by me today. My friend, and CP, Zellie Blake is very sick. It began around February and all her symptoms were those of a bad flu, then they were those of a possible parasite because she had been out of country, then they were those of pneumonia and then the final diagnosis in June was stage 4 lung cancer. A rare type of cancer for her age and previous health (perfect health) and thus it was overlooked in all the testing. I mentioned in the previous post along with the crane project that she had been admitted to the hospital, at the time I didn't feel my blog was the place to announce that she had already been dismissed from the hospital to her home with the assistance of hospice. The doctors have run out of treatment options. With that said, the purpose of my blog today is one thing I know Zellie, an aspiring writing like all of us, is pursuing…publishing the novel she worked on for ten years. It has been in the query stage for several months and with recent events she has decided to self publish. Taking this directly from her blog is her wish for her novel and how the proceeds will go to Cancer Research. Thank you.Lightning Spliced Official Press Release. (written and posted by Madeline for Zel)
Madeline here. Just writing to let you know that Zellie's book LIGHTNING SPLICED is finally available for purchase on Lulu! You can get it as a paperback ($20) or an eBook ($7.99). What makes this even more awesome is that all proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. So be sure to get your butt up and buy your own NOW!
If you prefer to order this book from another online outlet, such as Amazon or Barnes and Noble, this option will become available 6-8 weeks from today. FYI- purchasing from Lulu sends more proceeds to the American Cancer Society.
In further electrifying news, this book can be available at brick and mortar stores! How? Marketing! So with a lot of work, we can get this done! But we won't just wait for them to notice us. We'll MAKE them notice us! Be sure to spread the word so bookstores can find this novel as awesome as we think it is. We can go into independent book sellers, comic retailers, Borders, and more. Once there, we can speak to the person in charge and request that they stock copies. LET'S MAKE ZELLIE FAMOUS!
For ordering purposes, here is the ISBN: 978-0-557-65205-1. If the person in charge needs any further information, contact us at zellieblake@gmail.com.
For more about the book, you can read the cover flap, subscribe to audio chapters as a podcast and/or read the first three chapters for free.

The A Team (and the Chimera's)
Me: Like all of us, she is an author who just wants to be read. Thank you all for being so kind and supportive during this time. I will also be featuring Zellie as my guest blogger this week. She is the site admin for Chimera Critiques, where I am a staff member and Moderator. These will be previous blogs she has written and trust me you don't want to miss out. She knows her stuff!
When I hit the publish button for this blog yesterday ten minutes later I recieved the phone call that Zellie had lost her battle with cancer. She passed away in the early afternoon with her boyfriend at her side and friends and family close by. She will be fiercly missed as she was so fiercly loved. This post is now more about the legacy she was able to leave behind, a piece of her she shared with the world and her wish that her book would not only bring joy to people but that all the proceeds will go to cancer research.

My heart goes out to Zellie. Count me in on doing what I can to get her name out!
I DEFINITELY want to help and read her book.
This is so exciting. Off to LULU.
Omg, the last comment in purple was a punch in my stomach. My prayers are with Zellie, may she rest in peace. God, this tragedy makes me really sad, I guess because we can all understand her as an aspiring writer.
Im definetly off to Lulu.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with her family and friends. I hope the book sels like crazy for your amazing friend who thought of others at the end.
Oh this is so sad. How nice of you to tell us about Zellie who was taken from the world too quickly, and what she's trying to accomplish.
I will check out the book. Thank you for posting this.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Will pass the word along about this where and when I can.

so sorry for your loss. i will do my part and spread the word.
Hi Erica. As you know, Zellie was a friend of mine for the last two years and even though her diagnosis was serious, I still thought we'd have her for so much longer. When Callie contacted me, it was like a punch in the heart. I never got to tell Zellie how proud I was of her and how awesome I thought the book cover looked. What I can do now is spread the word about her novel because we need to do anything we can to help find a cure for this terrible disease. *hugs*
Erica ~ I'm so sorry to hear this! I've been away from the blogs for the last several days, and now I understand what you were referring to. Of course I'll be purchasing one of Zellie's books. It's wonderful what you are doing!

Oh, Erica, I am so sorry. Zellie sounds like an amazing person - a real go-getter. What a blessing that she was able to publish her book before leaving all of you. I'm sorry I wasn't here yesterday.
OMG...I had tears throughout this post...and then the update in purple at the bottom. Bam. My heart is so heavy. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so sad about this. I have bought my copy and I'm spreading the word. She was a wonderful person and --yes--she knew her stuff. I have a file with her crit on it. She will be missed. I'm so sorry.
This breaks my heart to hear this news. My deepest condolences to her family and to everyone who's life was touched by her.
This is such a generous project, and I will definitely buy a copy and spread the word. I hope others do too--reading her words is a great way to honor her and her passion for writing.
